HI all: Newbie on the forum needs some assistance. The right hand ejector popped out of the Stevens 820B I keep around the place for varmints(all varities) and I took it apart to see what caused the ejector to leave the bolt. I haven't found the reason as yet, no visible problems and everything is there. I foresee no problems with putting the ejector back in place, but I have to admit to some concern as to re-assembly of the gun. I wasn't paying as much attention as I should have when I took it apart, and I think I need an owners manual or some sort of manual that shows the gun blown up, etc.
Anyone have a source for such a thing?
Ray

Ray ,
The extractor looks to be held in place similar to an extractor on a typical Remington bolt ( except your Stevens has two) .
So you should have the extractor (which sorta hooks into the bolt) , a plunger ( that goes between the extractor and the spring) and the spring for each side.
You should be able to check : www.e-GunParts.com
for parts and(hopefully) an exploded-view.

Gordon, appreciate your response, but I don't think I'll have any problem with the extracter itself, seems fairly routine. But I have some small parts that I seem to be in the dark as to where they go, or at least in what sequence they install.
I took a look at Numrich and the layout they show is interesting but not mch help, as it's basically just the parts all spread out.
They do have for sale some additional sheets, I'm just not sure what they contain. I'll probably have to buy them to find out if they'll help.

I am having the same problem - I just bought 2 new extractors, plungers and springs - the extractors and plungers are slightly different from each other, and so are side-specific. The problem is the diagram linked above fails to show which is which, and the parts arrived with no part numbers, so I am still in the dark. Can anyone help us with a photo of an assembled breech bolt, so that we can determine which extractor is right, and which is left? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated..Angelo.

Ok, I have solved this by trial and error. The 2 extractors AND extractor plungers are slightly different because the left extractor is designed to release the shell rim first, as the shell comes into contact with the ejector. By releasing the left side first, the shell is effectively flipped out through the port in the right side of the receiver. The left extractor is prevented from popping out of the bolt by the receiver, so it uses a simple flat-top plunger. The right extractor has a slightly deeper and better defined recess, and the right side plunger is responsible for holding the extractor in the bolt as the bolt passes through the side port. So, the right plunger has a well defined 'step' which is designed to prevent the right extractor from popping out of the bolt. These differences are so subtle, I can't help but think there are many Stevens 820s not functioning properly - in my case there was one incorrect spring, one incorrect plunger and some wear to both ejectors, all of which led to inconsistent feeding. It now works exactly as Stevens' meant it to.. which is quite well.
